We were very honoured to welcome the delegation all the way from Port Vila on a rainy day in Berlin, Germany. After an introduction by Dr Hermann Ott (ClientEarth) and Miriam Saage-Maasz (ECCHR), Hon. Minister Napat addressed our CSO friends in the room, thanking them for their work and inviting them to continue advocating for climate justice and human rights.

The meeting was a great oportunity to ask questions under Chatham House rule, to brainstorm ideas for shared messages and co-draft ways of how we can get the German government to endorse the Initiative for an International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on Climate Change and Human Rights.

The meeting was attended by key civil society actors including German climate activist Luisa Neubauer. Civil society plays a hugely important role going forward to convince those governments who have not yet come out publicly in support of the ICJ Advisory Opinion Initiative. We are very honoured to to be a member of the Alliance for an Climate Justice Advisory Opinion with like-minded organizations willing to support us on this final stretch to bring the world’s biggest problem to the world’s highest court.
