WYCJ presents to 130 high school students at The Hague Humanity Hub
On 11th July 2023, WYCJ was invited to The Hague Humanity Hub in The Hague to present the achievements of both WYCJ and the Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC) in their journey to request an Advisory Opinion. 130 high school students from across the United States attended the presentation.
WYCJ, represented by Lauriane Eudeline, was invited to give a keynote speech before the 130 students delved into concrete sustainability initiatives taking place in The Netherlands. Lauriane could also present a couple of climate litigation cases taking place at national level in America and Europe as well as explain the international aspects of the WYCJ’s campaign.
Lauriane also gave concrete examples regarding the consequences of climate change faced by the Pacific Islands States. One worrying example concerns the islands of Kiribati will disappear within the next 80 years and she explained one of the temporary solutions implemented by the state: slowly relocating part of the population from the islands to Australia and New Zealand.
She could also answer the questions of the students on how to get involved in climate initiatives.
